Mommy, What's A Record Player? Ask RJD2.

After the tight squeeze at last year's sold-out RJD2 show at the Red Fox Tavern (here) promoter Reba Melfa, That's How We Roll Productions, said she had to turn people away.  This year, at the Eureka Theatre, left no doubt that RJD2 is a Humboldt favorite.  


RJD2, like his name suggests, is a machine.  He hustles and spends his time on stage grabbing new records, spinning them on four different turn-tables while smashing beats into a drum machine. Something rarely seen in the age of digital turn-tables driven by a Mac or PC.  


One of his newest hits called 1976, a collaboration with leftchannel, a motion and design firm based in Ohio, sets this latin-themed extravaganza with visuals from Cuba.  Check it out below and keep your ears open for more opportunities to watch genius incarnate, RJD2.

SLAMmin Week at HSU

SLAM Fest is here! This year's Sustainable Living Music and Arts Festival is underway and ends on April 29, 2011.  Different events will be held around the Humboldt State Campus focusing on "the belief that sustainable living, art, technology and music are inextricably linked together in shaping our culture..."  For more info see the website here.
